Much like the changing seasons, 2017 has revealed itself to me in cyclical layers of deep sadness and loss followed by celebrations of goals attained and precious time spent with family and dear friends. Personally, my family watched as several loved ones "walked in to the forest" (a Tlingit term used to describe the journey of those who have passed from this life to the next) these past months. Socially, the devisive political and social climate we live in has forced a giant spot light on how our actions affect others, sparking passionate and often distressing discussions about the direction of our national moral compass. It has become dangerously critical for us to seek and build from common ground. Yet these heartbreaking and troubling experiences have helped me to better appreciate the goodness that shines through deeper times.
A trusted friend during these cycles, music continues to give me hope and healing, connection and support - but most importantly - music helps me to feel. And I believe the ability to feel emapthy and compassion is the genesis of the desire to better ourselves through helping one another.
I am forever grateful for it’s gifts and feel privileged to sing for you.
Recent Highlights:
Craigville Coffeehouse Open Mic - Oh How We’ve Grown! This monthly event provides a mic and a stage to budding and seasoned artists from ages 8 to 80. We've heard music from genres that include classical, jazz, singer/songwriter, traditonal Celtic, classic rock and spoken word. You’ll find us at the Centerville Library on the second Tuesday of every month. The event is free with accepted donations for the Cape Cod Food Pantry.
Concert for Houston to Benefit the Houston Food Bank - Starring Kate Taylor and Steve Mayone with Opening Artist Jordan Renzi, who donated their talents. What started out as a desire I had to help victims of Hurricane Harvey very quickly turned in to a wonderful evening of music thanks to our amazing Cape Cod community. Special recognition to my RavenDaisy partner Kathleen Healy, CapeSpace owner Robbin Orbison and Folk New England Founder Betsy Siggins for donating their lightening speed production skills. Together with the help of local business sponsors we raised over $3,700 for Houston families in need! 
Vinegrass / Not Your Average Joe’s - Vinegrass board members had the pleasure of working with the folks at Not Your Average Joe’s in Hyannis who deemed September “Vinegrass Month”. The restaurant donated a portion of any diner’s bill who mentioned Vinegrass during their visit. Follow the link Vinegrass to learn more about how Vinegrass provides music scholarships for kids.
2nd Annual Sandwich Porch Fest - Mother Nature could not prevent the sweet sounds of acoustic music from resonating through the main 
streets of Sandwich! The community rallied through two rain delays with their enthusiastic support of this popular event! As both event co-organzier and performer, I was thrilled to see the number of folks who turned out to listen to the 20 talented artists who performed on the historic porches throughout this quintessential New England town! Visit Sandwich Arts Alliance to see the many ways they support artists in our community.
South Shore Folk Music Club Feature (South Shore Folk Music Club) - I was incredibly honored to perform at this revered and respected volunteer-run venue where hundreds of folk artists have graced the stage for decades. A bonus: meeting and collaborating with new friend singer/songwriter Patrice Taddonio, who opened the show!

“Above Ground”
My debut cd was released worldwide on my birthday, September 30th! The 8 song recording contains 7 original tunes and one cover song. The title celebrates the accomplishment of my goal of overcoming stagefright and moving my performances from our basement to the world "Above Ground". I give a nod to both of my parents with “The Call” written about a dream I had about my mom not long after she passed and “I’m So Lonesome, I Could Cry” (by Hank Williams) dedicated to my father, a long-time country music fan. The cd was recorded and produced by Grammy-nomimated producer Jon Evans at his Brick Hill Studio in Orleans, MA. The songs are presented differently than from my live performances and, similar to a house remodel, they are decorated in different colors and treatments; but the foundation - the essence of each song- remains true. Jon, along with with guest artists Alex Becrelis (mandolin) and Heather Swanson (violin), lifted the songs in new directions and I am proud to share them in their new decor.
Plans are being finalized for the February 2018 CD RELEASE CONCERT for family and friends who have supported my “Above Ground” musical journey. I am super excited to bring live music back to Liberty Hall in Marstons Mills, a venue that was once a routine stop on the folk musician’s tour schedule. I’ll be joined by some very talented musician friends who will bring some warmth and joy to a cold February night!
“Above Ground” is available for purchase on the “Music” tab of my website (Kim Moberg Music) in addition to cdbaby, iTunes, Amazon and Spotify. I have been told by fans that it makes a great holiday gift!

Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) 
- In November, I attended my first NERFA conference at the Stamford Plaza in CT. NERFA is an annual four day music conference where artists and industry professionals get together to exchange ideas, attend workshops, panel discussions and seminars. Artists get to perform for these industry professionals, and each other, in a number of showcase settings.
I was honored to be selected by Bob Weiser (The Old Songs’ Home radio show, WOMR Provincetown) to perform at the Suzi Wollenberg DJ Showcase - a showcase that introduces new and rising artists to DJs from across the country. I also I had the pleasure of performing at five Guerrilla Showcases - musical bonanzas that filled the second floor of the Stamford Plaza with beautiful sounds until the wee (and I mean WEE) hours of the morning. But mostly, this “newbie” spent the weekend in overwhelming awe at the level of talent, camaraderie, support, friendship and boundless love gathered in one place for four glorious days. I am still trying to absorb the experience and it is one that will stay with me for a long time to come.

Is there a more fun time to celebrate music than the holiday season? As I write this, December shows include Sandwich Arts Alliance Holly Days Concert on 12/2, the Centerville Christmas Stroll - sharing the bill with good friend and singer/songwriter Kathleen Healy (Kathleen Healy) on 12/3, The West Falmouth Winter House Tour at the West Falmouth United Methodist Church on 12/10. On 12/11, I’ll be one of the featured artists for The Acoustic Lounge Women in Music series at the British Beer Company in Plymouth.
Coming up on 12/18 I’ll join local artists and friends for the WOMR The Old Songs’ Home Holiday Open House show hosted by Bob Weiser where you’ll hear 2 songs performed by each artist. This gathering is a delicious holiday treat, so be sure to listen in on 92.1 / 92.1 FM or online at https://womr.org.
I’ll close out 2017 on New Year’s Eve with two performance at the Sandwich Arts Alliance First Night celebration - the first at 5:00 at Beth’s Bakery & Cafe where I’ll be joined by my talented fiddle playing friend Heather Swanson, followed by a 7:00 solo performance at the Uncommon Cafe. A family friendly tradition not to be missed!
