Doin's - June 2017 (vol.1, no. 1)

Our gardens are blossoming and as I pause to enjoy their beauty, I breathe in the blessings and give thanks to what’s in store for this Cape Cod singer/songwriter.
I have been busy with all things music! Here are some highlights:

Progress has been made on my soon-to-be released debut EP  “Above Ground”. The instrumental tracks have been recorded with two special guests lending their talents on two tracks. I’ll be in the studio recording lead and harmony vocal tracks soon under the guidance of my incredibly talented producer, Jon Evans, (along with his amazing and ever present canine, Copley who stands ready to lend an ear and catch a ball at a moment’s call) at Brick Hill Studio (http://www.brickhillstudio.com).
Stay tuned for “Above Ground’” updates where I'll reveal the names of my musical guests!

My dear friend, singer/songwriter Kathleen Healy (http://www.kathleenhealy.com) and I hit the road traveling to Deerfield, MA where we taped back-to-back episodes of the show “The Song: Voices of Dissent” at Frontier Access Community Television.  Our lovely host, Mary Wheelan, has given the show a new format to focus on topical songs. We had such a great time sharing our socially relevant music and discussing how to stay positive in today's political environment.

That evening, Kathleen and I drove from Deerfield to Greenwich, RI to perform as featured artists for New England to Nashville’s Songwriter's Round hosted by Kevin Herchen at “The Trap” where we had the unexpected but much welcomed surprise to perform for Warwick Fire Department’s finest at the Chief’s retirement party!

I’m super excited to share a new partnership with Kathleen Healy called RavenDaisy Productions. Kathleen and I have joined forces to book, produce and promote live music at listening venues - the first being at the CapeSpace Coffeehouse founded by CapeSpace owner and music lover Robbin Orbison.  CapeSpace Coffeehouse is a beautiful listening room that will feature monthly live music. Our first Coffeehouse performers were local favorites Catherine King and Catie Flynn. The July featured artists will be Rose Martin and Diana Di Gioia joined by Melody Masi.
Check the CapeSpace Coffeehouse (http://www.CapeSpace.com) calendar for upcoming events!

Speaking of blossoming, my Craigville Coffeehouse Open Mic is doing just that with the past two months showing a full house and a full list of performers!  Sincerest gratitude to the Centerville Library for hosting and giving me the opportunity to help artists and writers hone their performance skills!
The next Open Mic will be Tuesday, June 13th - I hope to see you there!

This spring I, along with Kathleen Healy and our friend (the crazy talented) poet Kim Berner, had the absolute pleasure of performing at “Friday Night Live!”, an intimate evening hosted by Jill Ross at her beautiful APP Space (Arts, Philosophy and Practice). It was an amazing night celebrating art and community!

And for the first time ever, I was tickled to be invited as the surprise birthday present performer at a party for up and coming musician and FIRST FEATURED FAN Lori Cooney! It was such a blast - and an honor -  to share music and to mentor (as so many kind musician friends have done for me) in celebration of Lori’s special day with a houseful of her family and friends!

I also had the privilege of being invited to participate at the Cape Conservatory’s first ever Singer/Songwriter Master Class with Dave Wax and Suze Slezak of the duo Dave Wax Museum. Dave and Suze, who have been touring professionally for over 10 years, shared their experiences, wisdom and advice about how to be a successful professional musician. They generously offered meaningful and supportive feedback on original songs performed by a small group of us. Check them out at www.davidwaxmuseum.com.

Work continues at Vinegrass where founder Monica Rizzo and I hosted a table at the First Annual Non-Profit Festival held at the gorgeous Wellfleet Preservation Hall.  What a treat it was to spend the day with so many people who are doing great things in our community! Also in support of Vinegrass, I the pleasure to work at the Mark Erelli fundraiser show where Mark mesmerized 50 lucky folks with his powerful music. Please consider making a donation to this wonderful organization that provides scholarships to music students. (http://www.vinegrass.org). While you’re there, look for details about Vinegrass’s upcoming October event!

It is truth that I am grateful for every opportunity to play for you all, but a career highlight happened in May when I was invited to perform as part of the Cape Cod Women’s Music Festival 2017 held at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA.  The annual concert is a fundraiser for the Cape Cod Wellness Collaborative (http://www.capewellnesscollaborative.org), an organization founded by musician, singer/songwriter Sarah Swain. This fabulous organization provides gift cards for free integrative therapies to folks battling cancer and I am one of their ever grateful recipients.

Sarah not only lends a caring hand to cancer patients, but she also supports local artists by giving them exposure to a larger audience along side more accomplished artists. This year I was beyond honored to be included on the bill with headliners Ruby Red Fox, Sasha Dobson, Grace Morrison, and Sarah Swain and The Oh Boys in addition to local artists and friends Sarah Burrill, Chantal, Chev Hardy & Frank Poranski and Kathleen Healy. The love, support and camaraderie shared by the artists and every person involved that magical night was a beautiful, uplifting and inspiring experience that will stay with me for a very long time to come. The evening ended with an all artist finale of “Put A Little Love In Your Heart”. Indeed we did! Can you say “Music Buzz”?

Our duo Still Willow (http://www.stillwillowmusic.com) continues to perform, most recently at the First Sunday Series at Harvest Gallery and Wine Bar and the Mashpee Commons Sidewalk Festival. Take a look the Shows tab for our schedule of upcoming summer performances.

Summer will be a very busy time of growth and new adventures where I will be finishing up some new songs, learning new material, working with RavenDaisy Productions, collaborating and performing. I have a number of solo dates scheduled at local venues including Farmers Markets, The Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern, Karoo, The Flying Fish Restaurant and CapeSpace Coffeehouse so please take a look-see at the Shows tab for dates and times.
I'd sure love for you to come on out, say hi and share a song with me!

Thank you for joining me in my musical journey, for singing along and for staying connected!

Peace and much love.
